What
is PHP/FI?
PHP (http://www.php.net/)
is a popular, freely available web applications development
tool. The newest version, called PHP4, includes an HTML-embedded
scripting language and a server-side preprocessor that interprets
the HTML- embedded code in order to create dynamically generated
web pages. PHP4 includes support for various databases, including
mSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Thus, PHP is commonly used for
the development of database enabled web sites.
Like
other preprocessed, html-embedded scripting languages, PHP
has many of the more useful features of Perl but is designed
for HTML development in mind. It eliminates the need for numerous
small Perl CGI programs by allowing you to place simple scripts
directly in your HTML files. This speeds up the overall performance
of your web pages since the overhead of forking Perl several
times has been eliminated. It also makes it easier to manage
large web sites by placing all components of a web page in
a single html file. Similar tools commercially available include
Miva, Aestiva HTML/OS, and Meta-HTML PRO.

How
do I access my cPanel?
You can access the cPanel from your web site directly by going to
the link http://yourdomain/cpanel.
How
do I access my Database?
Your
database can be accessed through the control panel under MySQL databases -> the phpMyAdmin web tool (phpMyAdmin link) or
https://yourdomain:2083/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php. Before you can login into the database, you must create a database and its users through the control panel. Then PhpMyAdmin will
show you your active database, and can be used to do a number
of queries and modifications to your database.
My
email software gives me an error when I try to send mail,
saying that the server "does not relay". What can
I do?
This
happens because the mail server you are trying to send mail
through does not accept mail without authentication. This
is done to protect you, and other users on the Internet, from
spam. To correct the problem, please make certain that you
specify that your POP3 and SMTP server are mail.yourdomain.com (or .net, .org, etc...) and your SMTP Outgoing Mail Server requires authentication.
This can typically be done while setting up the account.
If you
are using MS Outlook Express or Outlook, to modify an accout to use authentication,
please first find Tools on the top menu and select Accounts to open the properties window, then click Mail tab, Here, double-click on the account you want to modify, and
then look under the servers tab. You will find a section for
the Outgoing Mail Server. Here please check the option that
"My server requires authentication". By default,
Outlook will try to use your standard username and password
to log in, so you shouldn't need to change the Settings here.
Once this is done, please try to check your incoming mail before your sending.
